Funding Options Outside of the Department

How does one find a TA-ship elsewhere on campus?

First, visit this website as it lists various opportunities across campus. Please note, however, that this list is continually updated and how much is posted there varies quite a bit from week to week, month to month.

Second, feel free to contact any of the following departments to see if they are looking. It is not uncommon that a department's teaching needs outstrip the number of students:

  • English Department: The contact person for coordinating composition courses is Professor Jonathan S. Cullick.
  • Rhetoric Department: This department is on the nearby St. Paul campus (about 10 minutes from our building) and is often looking for TAs to teach basic public speaking or composition courses. The contact person right now is Richard Graff.

Third, stay in touch with Professor Schiappa and the fall gets closer. It is certainly possible that the College will ask us to add sections of basic courses, in which case Professor Schiappa may be making some TA hires during late spring or summer.

Hope this information helps. Good luck!
