Narrative

Although Dr. Scott is Professor Emeritus, he remains an active member of the graduate program and the Communication Studies Department, currently serving as the Honors Representative to the College of Liberal Arts and advising Honors undergraduate students and a few graduate majors.

His work in rhetorical theory and criticism has been widely published, is well known, and remains influential. He has published more than fifty articles, book chapters, and books.

He has received a number of awards for his scholarly work and in 1991 the National Communication Association named him as Distinguished Scholar. In 1982 the College of Liberal Arts gave him an Outstanding Teaching Award. He edited the Quarterly Journal of Speech from 1971 to 1974.
